This project will bring together water managers and researchers to improve how they use climate science to address water challenges in California.
Project funding will expand and strengthen an emerging transdisciplinary collaboration between the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), PSU and RAND. Our focus aims to understand how actionable climate science is developed and used to develop and scale innovative climate change solutions (methodologies, procedures, guidance, etc.) at DWR, SWRCB, and with their state, local and regional partners, how climate is integrated into the management and regulation of water resources at DWR and SWRCB, and the challenges and opportunities of integrating adaptation process. The over two decades of experience with climate change programming at DWR and SWRCB offer unprecedented learning opportunities to advance climate science and solutions at scale.
